Taken Through Michigan State University

Fall 2010-Spring 2011

During my internship year, I took 3 specific classes to help me with my student teaching.  The classes I took were; TE 803 (Professional Roles & Teaching Practice I with Aaron Bodle) TE 802 (Reflect & Inquire Teaching Practice I with Jen Knight) and TE 804 (Reflect & Inquire Pratice II with Rochelle Rubin).  Although not fully focusing on techonology, these classes allowed me to explore the world of teaching.

Concepts Educational Inquiry

Fall 2012- Steven Weiland

This class was focused on theories and practices of educational inquiry.

It also focused on how these theories and practices changed through history in education.  I read and reflected on many theories that have impacted education in the past as well as our current education.  I was able to rely on and connect with my personal education experiences.

Capstone Portfolio Course

Spring 2013- Matthew Koehler

This is my final course in my Master's program.  I created an online portfolio that displays my course work and accomplishments throughout my Master's Program.  This self-reflection allows me to grow as a learner and teacher.

Teaching School Subject Matter With Technology

Fall 2012- Erica Hamilton

This course focused on the benefits and challenges of using technology in the classroom.  I was able to develop strategies for teaching different subject matter with technology. Throughout different projects and assignments, I was able to explore a new side of technology and what it means in a classroom setting.

Accomodating Differences in Literacy Learners

Spring 2013- Erin Jurand

This course focused on the importance of differentiating all aspects of literacy instruction. Each module went in-depth on a new aspect of literacy, such as vocabulary, word work, comprehension, fluency, written responses, etc. I was taught how to focus my instruction in these areas for children who are not reading at grade level. I also learned how to make individual instruction plans by completing a case study on two struggling readers. I assessed these readers at the beginning of the course, implemented my instruction plans that were centered around the specific needs of the child, and then assessed the readers at the end of the course to see how much growth was made.

Learning Science with Technology

Fall 2012- David Wong

During this class, I was able to find out how technology can be used in classroom. The main focus of this course was teaching science courses and using technology. We created and participated in a number of science experiments using the Internet and technology. Through this class, I was able to experience a new way to investigate science in the classroom.

Teaching with Technology across the Curriculum

Fall 2013- Rand Spiro

This course allowed me to bring my current understandings of technology and learn how it can be used for learning across the academic subjects (mathematics, science, language arts, social studies). Through this course I was able to make learning through technology meaningful in my classroom and understand the challenges that come with using it.

Teaching Students Online

Fall 2013- Ann Heintz

During this course, I was able to take what I learned in the classroom and transform it into an online class.  I was able to take valuable information and allow my students to use techonology to learn.  This was a new experience for me, one that has left a lasting impression on my teaching.
